Eurocopter - 45 Years of Presence in China
Eurocopter, a Division of EADS, is the world's largest helicopter manufacturer. In 2011, Eurocopter achieved a turnover of 5.4 billion Euros, orders for 457 new helicopters and a 43 percent market share in the civil and parapublic sectors. Eurocopter’s products range from light single-engine helicopters to light and medium twins as well as medium-heavy transport helicopters, which are used for a wide variety of missions.
For the past 45 years, Eurocopter has been China’s No. 1 helicopter partner. This long-lasting relationship between Eurocopter and China first began in 1967 with the sale of the Alouette III, followed by several cooperation agreements for the AS365 Dauphin, EC120 Colibri, and EC175/Z15 helicopters.
To further capitalize on its leading position, Eurocopter created a subsidiary in China in December 2006 with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Another three offices were opened in 2011 in Chengdu, Harbin and Wuhan. In 2009, Eurocopter set up a Regional Customer Service Center (CSC) Asia-Pacific, located at the Hong Kong International Airport. Prior to this, a logistics platform was already set up in Hong Kong in 2005 with an extensive collection of spare parts serving customers in the whole of Asia including Australia.
Eurocopter’s No.1 Position in the Civil and Parapublic Sectors
In the Chinese market for civil helicopters, Eurocopter is the leader with a 40% market share and more than 180 helicopters sold across the country. In 2011, Eurocopter China achieved 58 million Euros in revenue, representing a 70% increase from 2010. Bookings in China also reached a new record of 300 million Euros.
Eurocopter’s Ecureuil family – the reference helicopter for utility work
In 2009, the AS350B3 helicopter was successfully certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) according to the latest international standards. To date, there are a total of 30 Ecureuil helicopters in China, with most of these helicopters used for utility missions.
The EC225 – best-in-class multi-purpose helicopter
Today, helicopters are playing a bigger and bigger role in the modern urban administration of the world’s major cities, including homeland security, search and rescue (SAR), fire-fighting and various other public services. The EC225 is one of the best in its category, serving many nations with its excellence as a multi-purpose helicopter.
