Why the Event

2010 is the year of China Smart Grid Rollout!
According to a recently issued industry development plan by Shanghai municipal government, smart grid mainly concerns the following 10 categories of industries: new energy generation grid connection, composite materials, wires and cables, power transmission and distribution, measuring and testing, power system automation, energy storage, electric vehicle to grid, information and communication technology. The plan emphasizes the features of smart grid such as highly integration of traditional power equipment industry with new industries, highly integrated products, high technical contents and added values, long-lasting industrial chains, and strong economic spur. Based on the development of smart grid industry, such new energy industries as wind power, solar power, and biomass power can correspondingly enjoy large-scale development and electric vehicles can be popularized.
In view of the revolutionary impact of smart grid on energy production and consumption, as well as the economic spur in related industries, the comprehensive application of smart grid technology will become the key solution for China to ensure its urban energy supply and achieve emission reduction and sustainable development in the future. Therefore, the development of smart grid industry has been put on government’s top agenda as an enabler to grasp the opportunity of global industrial restructuring, and seize the high ground for a new round of growth.
And this April, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization formally issued the Plan for Promoting The Development of Smart Grid Industry (2010-2012), under which, by 2012, Shanghai will strive to nurture 3-5 leading enterprises in smart grid industry, and create a competitive smart grid cluster, with the industrial scale up to RMB50-80 billion, and with the emphasis on the following five directions: grid-connected new energy generation and control; smart substations and smart devices; electric power storage; smart distribution network and demand-side response; high-temperature superconductivity. The overall objective of the plan is to take the lead in construction of three major smart grid bases in China, namely the application base for smart grid function demonstration, the research and development base for smart grid key technology, and the industrial base for smart grid core equipment.
Under this circumstance, this year’s China Smart Grid Forum (CSGF) 2010 will take you to Shanghai, the largest city of China and also the economic and industry center. Based on last year’s CSGF program that brought 170+ professionals and business leaders of various industries over 14 countries, CSGF has now become the most influential international level industry conference of its kind in China. And most especially, this year CSGF 2010 will be held in conjunction with China International Industry Fair, which will provide extra and unrivalled business and networking opportunities. Just mark the date on your calendar, I’m sure CSGF 2010 will be your unmissable annual gathering with other professionals and business leaders across the power industry.
