Ansaldo STS, the leading technology group operating in the railway and underground transportation sector, has obtained enviable achievements this year in China. Earlier March, through its subsidiary CSEE Transport, Ansaldo STS has been awarded by the Chinese Ministry of Railways a contract(worth Euro 30 million) to provide the signalling system for a new dedicated passenger line of 190km between Shijiangzhuang and Taiyuan(Shitai PDL Line) in North East China.
The contract refers to the design and supply of the CTCS 2 sigalling system, which will allow the circulation of passenger trains at speeds of up to 300 km/h over Shitai line.
The contract is then followed by a industrial and commercial collaboration agreement between Union Switch & Signal International, Ansaldo STS's another subsidiary, and the Chinese company Zhejiang Zheda Insigma Group Company Ltd. (“Insigma”) specialising in application software and Information Technology networks and infrastructures. The subject of the agreement is the alliance between the two groups to provide mass transit signalling control systems throughout China.
It is estimated that the value of the signalling systems for China is around USD 400 million for projects during the next two years, and a forecast of additional USD 1 billion projects until 2011.
By sponsoring the 2nd Annual China RailWorld Summit 2007, China's largest high speed rail conference, Ansaldo STS seeks to consolidate its presence in China and further strengthens world leadership in railway signalling market.
