Introduction:
China Experimental Fast Reactor (Key Project of National High-tech R&D Program)

Approved by the Chinese State Council in 1992 and established in December 1995, the China Experimental Fast Reactor(CEFR) is one of the major energy projects under National High-tech R&D Program China's National 863 Program. The China Institute of Atomic Energy is the organizer of the project's design and construction as well as the manager of the following research and operation. With a thermal power of 65MW, the fast reactor is able to generate 20MW of electric power. The reactor has achieved its first criticality at 21st. July 2010 and was connected to the grid with 40% rated power on 21st July 2011. The CEFR belongs to one type of sodium fast reactor of Generation IV with higher safety.
