The Unconventional Hydrocarbons Summit will be held in April 21st to 23rd 2010 in Taiyuan which organized by CDMC and The Coal Bed Methane Industry Association of Shanxi Province.

The topics of two-days conference will be around the Landscape of Unconventional Hydrocarbons in China; Global CBM/CMM Market Landscape; CBM/CMM Exploration and Production in China; The Quest for New Unconventional Hydrocarbon in China. Finally, we will make a Site Tour to Qinshui Basin to visit the Large Scale Digital CBM Demonstration Project.

On November 16, the demonstrative project of the digital large-scale CBM field at Qinshui Basin in Shanxi Province developed by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has been completed and put into production.

According to the introduction by relevant experts, this project includes: one coal-bed methane processing center with an annual processing capacity of 1 billion cubic meters and one CBM field with an annual productivity of 0.6 billion cubic meters. The CBM field features high-level automation and adopts “remote automatic digital monitoring system”. Staffs only need to sit in the office to utilize this remote automatic system to start up and stop of the coal-bed methane well as well as collect and monitor related information and data. In addition, the CBM field has also adopted one set of “automatic system for power dispatch”, so that the transformer substation and the ON/OFF switching station in the entire CBM field have realized unattended operation.

On November 16, China’s first digital large-scale CBM field demonstrative project was completed and put into the production at Duanshi Town, Qinshui County, Shanxi Province. This gas field project was invested and constructed by CBM Branch of CNPC Huabei Oilfield. The project features high degree of automatic control, high compatibility of software and hardware and high precision of data entry, and it is a milestone demonstrative project in China’s history of exploration and development of coal-bed methane.

Qinshui CBM Field, as one of areas with the richest coal-bed methane in China, has a prospective resource reserve of 3.95 trillion cubic meters. CNPC Huabei Oilfield Company owns a mineral-title area of 5646 square kilometers and a total resource reserve of 846.9 billion cubic meters. At present, the Company has built 731 drilling wells, 6 gas-collecting stations, 359 kilometers of gas gathering pipelines and one processing center with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic meters. Its annual coal-bed methane productivity has reached 0.6 billion cubic meters. As a result, the Company has realized large-scale commercial operation of new energy. It is estimated that the annual coal-bed methane productivity of this gas field would reach 4.5 billion cubic meters by 2015. According to relevant information, one part of the coal-bed methane after collection and processing will be transmitted into the backbone network of the West-to-East Gas Transmission Project, while another part thereof will be transmitted into local users to serve local economy.
