Why the Event

Over the years, China's traditional power grid is based on large, centralized power stations that supply end-users via long-established, transmission and distribution systems. However, the PRC Government has already introduced a blueprint for 15 per cent of the country’s energy requirement to be met from renewable resources sources by 2020. These challenging targets will require the existing transmission and distribution networks to operate in ways for which they were not originally designed. On the other hand, with the rapid development of UHV Transmission program, transmission system engineers are more eager to monitor grid operations in real time. But until recently, lack of computing power, combined with the substantial difficulties in collecting, coordinating and synchronizing the grid data made this impossible.
Under such background, the paramount importance of using smart technologies for generating, transmitting and distributing electricity in order to move electricity around the system as efficiently and economically as possible has been confirmed by the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) through its recently announced strategic plan.
Building on the success of its energy events in China, CDMC will hold its inaugural China International Smart Grid Forum in Beijing, China this Dec. It will explore in depth all the core sector areas as well as significant related topics, including optimizing grid infrastructure, integrating large-scale intermittent generation, deployment priorities, finance and incentives, information and communication technology, new markets, users and energy efficiency. The forum will also examine a number of case studies showing how new projects have been implemented across USA, Europe and elsewhere.
Providing unrivalled business and networking opportunities between industry leaders, government officials and experts, China International Smart Grid Forum promises to be an unmissable event for all those active across the electricity grid industry.
