It is our great pleasure to present the 3rd annual China Water Congress 2009 which is going to be staged on 23rd- 24th April in Tianjin China, the most dynamic region in the global water industry.
Ameliorating the water supply and the treatment efficiency demand heavy investment in water infrastructure. It is estimated that more than RMB1, 000 billion will be invested into China water market, a large share of which will go towards supply infrastructure construction and to enhance the treatment capability. However, further reform needs to be implemented in water sector In order to put these investments into full play.
Zeroing in on China’s infrastructure sector, water market should be one of the most on-limits and attractive sectors to foreign operators, investors and service providers. For foreigners, momentous challenges would not be overlooked, however. Local operators become more independent and flexible. They have increasing competence competing with multinationals in some municipal projects. Local governments are inclined to cautious to the cooperation with foreign players due to the new guidelines and assessment system. Moreover, localization is still a big impediment. Challenges for local players are oblivious also. Much lower profit margin together with the lack of experience in large projects comparing with those international giants seems to be the big concern.
