The Guangdong LNG Project is the first pilot project in China for LNG imports to relieve energy shortage in the south eastern coastal area of China. May 26th 2006, the first shipment of LNG from North West Shelf of Australia arrived at Dapeng terminal in Shenzhen marked a milestone in energy industry of China. The LNG terminal is located at Chengtoujiao, Dapeng Bay in Shenzhen and the overall project is made up of 14 separate projects with total investment of over USD3.6 billion. These include 4 new-build power plants, 5 local residential and commercial distribution networks in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Foshan and Hong Kong, 3 LNG ships, one oil-to-gas power plant conversion and Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company Ltd’s terminal and trunkline projects.
